Cream City Soundcheck is a music documentary series that films bands as they perform at popular music venues throughout Milwaukee and explore the city’s unique cultural offerings.

Passing the Baton

The Milwaukee Striders Track Club was started to provide Milwaukee boys and girls an opportunity to build their track, academic and civic skills through participation in a community characterized by hard work and love. For over 30 years, the Striders ran on the dedication of its founder Joe Sims. This film follows a new generation of Striders as they attempt to carry on the values and principles that helped Joe Sims turn the Striders into a premiere track club.

Water Docs: Dr. Russell Cuhel

Dr. Cuhel was on of sixty researchers featured in doc|UWM’s Water Docs project – a series of short documentaries that showcase fresh water researchers in southeastern Wisconsin. This video is centered on Dr. Cuhel’s study of invasive species and their effect on the phytoplankton population in Lake Michigan.

Ross Nugnent was a Master’s student in the Film Department and the subject of one of Artist Portraits. This series of short documentaries on instructors and students from the Peck School of the Arts was designed as an exercise to help doc|UWM students practice the art of documentary filmaking.

My Way Home

My Way Home is a feature length documentary film that chronicles a young Hmong – American woman’s journey to reconnect with her past. Born in the jungles of Laos but raised in the United States, twenty-two year old Hmong filmmaker Dao Chang wants to make films about her culture.

Chosen Towns

Chosen Towns is a feature length documentary that explores the age-old tension between identity and assimilation by putting you in the shoes of small town Wisconsin Jews.

Weighing In

“Weighing In” by Rhina P. Espaillat is one of several poems featured in the Poetry Everywhere project. Each short film is created by students working with doc|UWM, in association with the Poetry Foundation.

Bert’s Story

Bert’s Story is part of the S.A.N.E. (Stop Abuse and Neglect of Elders) project – a series of short documentaries that help to identify the various forms of abuse and neglect.
